round liquor bottle with seams showing from mould; no markings |
| Description, including signature and date |
| This bottle contains a crucifix with a carved figure of Christ and a few tools. At Christ's feet is a stand with an open book on it with some writing which can't be read through the thick glass. An H and a Y are clear; it probably says "Holy Bible" because in another bottle by the same artist, the HOLY BIBLE is very clear. The back of the cross features a large carved open heart, and there is some painted decoration in red and black. On either side of Jesus are panels carved with vines. To see four other bottles by the same artist, click links to One, Two, Three, and Four. Bottle #4 was found in a small town in eastern Connecticut, but the artist is anonymous. |
