This triple crucifix features three figures, each nailed through bloodied hands and feet to crosses. The figure of Christ is also pierced in the side by a spear, still in his body. All three are wearing long paper skirts.
The bottle is signed on the bottom, but because of the thick, irregular glass, the complete signatures cannot be read. One side is signed "Will[iam?] D[--]Zilr(?)" and the other side clearly "W. V. Vaughn" and beneath the signatures appears to be "Shire[----] Pa". There is no date. It might have been made in a World War I POW camp because a nearly identical bottle, dated 1917 and signed "Made by Charlie James," was said to have been made by an American in a German camp. |
